GABRIELE PASQUI [Coordinator]

Gabriele Pasqui (1965), is Associate Professor of Local Development Policies and Territorial Analysis at Milan Polytechnic. He is member of the Faculty of the PhD program in “Spatial Planning and Urban Development”.
In the period 2004-2006 was scientific director of a Master in “Development and cohesion programmes and policies”. 
He is member of the Steering Committee of Steer Davies Gleave for the “Ex.post evaluation of cohesion policy programmes 2000-2006. Work Package: Transport”.
His key scientific interests include analysis of contemporary cites and urban populations, local development policies, strategic planning, urban governance.
During the last years member of research groups about “Local development projects in Lombardy” (coordinator: Gabriele Pasqui), “Metropolitan innovation, governance and social capital in four italian metropolitan areas in the ‘90s” (coordinator: Bruno Dente) “Milan region strategic plan” (coordinator: Alessandro Balducci) and “Transformation of contemporary cities” (coordinator: Alessandro Balducci), “Master Plan for military areas in Piacenza” (coordinators: Franco Infussi and Gabriele Pasqui”.

ANDREA DI GIOVANNI [Assistant Professor]

Architect, he graduated (1999) at the Politecnico di Milano, PhD in Environmental and Spatial Planning (2003). Assistant Professor in Urban Planning at the Department of Architecture and Planning - Politecnico di Milano, he teaches at the Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning and Architectural Sciences of the School of Architecture and Society of the Politecnico di Milano. He is an editor of Planum. The Journal of Urbanism (www.planum.net). He has taken part in design competitions, in the drawing up of the General Regulatory Plan of the Municipality of Jesi (2003-2006, leaded by P. Gabellini), in the representation of the strategies of the Emilia Romagna Regional Spatial Plan (2008-2010, head of the research unit P. Gabellini), in the drawing up of the Building and Planning Code of the Municipality of Bologna (2009, leaded by P. Gabellini) and he has led experiences of community planning. He has taken part to the research “Nord/Ovest Milano. Uno studio geografico operativo” (2008-2009, leaded by M. Bolocan Goldstein, S. Botti, G. Pasqui) coordinating with Bertrando Bonfantini one of the research unit. In addition to essays and articles on the main Italian and international journals, he published the book “Spazi comuni. Progetto urbanistico e vita in pubblico nella città contemporanea” (Carocci, 2010) and he is the editor of the book “ Urban Planning and Design. A Workshop and a Course” (Maggioli 2008).

GIULIA FINI [Tutor]

Architect, Master degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture Università IUAV di Venezia (2006), PhD in Urban Policies and Projects at Politecnico di Milano (2010) with a dissertation titled From poles to places. Peripheral growth, emerging polarities and new urbanities.
She is a Research Fellow at the Diap - Politecnico di Milano and collaborates with Laboratorio Rapu+. Her research focuses on new conditions of urbanity in the contemporary city and on Italian traditions of urban planning through some important scholars contributions.
She teaches at the Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning, School of Architecture and Society of Politecnico di Milano, after has been tutoring at Università IUAV di Venezia, Politecnico di Milano, as well as international workshop.
She collaborated with ACZ firm of architects (2006-2007), Provincia di Bologna, Settore Pianificazione Territoriale e Trasporti (2007-2008) and Secchi-Viganò firm of architects (2007-2009). She collaborated with Parametro. Rivista internazionale di Architettura e Urbanistica (2003-2006) and since 2010 she is editor-in chief of Planum. The Journal of Urbanism (www.planum.net). In addition to some essays she published articles on national and international journals.

PATRIZIA GABELLINI [Founder]

Architect, and Full Professor of Urbanism from 2000, she is teaching at the Architecture and Society School of the Politecnico di Milano, where she has been the director of the Specialization Program in Urban and Environmental Planning and, then, coordinator of PhD Program in Urban Projects and Policies of the Department of Architecture and Planning.
She has been head of that Department from 2009 to 2011.
In the same Department she is responsible for "RAPu + Urban Design", the Laboratory which manages the digital archives of Italian urban plans (www.rapu.it) and researches of urban planning and design. 
As a Scholar she has been coordinator of research groups of the INU-National Istitute of Urbanistics, of the CNR-National Centre of Research and of the European Ten Telecom (DG XIII). 
She gave seminars, conferences, lessons in many Italian universities, in faculties of architecture and engineering, for PhD and specialized courses. She takes part of boards in competitive examinations and project competitions, and of panels for university evaluation. 
She has been visiting scholar at the IURD of the University of California in Berkeley (2008), and visiting professor in the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio - University of the Italian Switzerland (2009-10, 2010-11). 
As an academic planner, she collaborated to the project of the Master plans of Jesi (1987) and Siena (1990); she projected the technical regulations for the implementation of the Master plans of Bergamo (1995) and Prato (1996); she directed the “Design and Communication” project of the Master plan of Rome (2000). She projected the new plan of Jesi (2006) and is working for the territorial project of the Esino Valley, funded by the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transports. 
From 2006 to 2009 she was consultant for the urban plan of Bologna (structure plan and regulations plan) and then member of the scientific committee for the territorial plan of Emilia Romagna region. She has been editor of the journal Urbanistica from 1994 to 1998, and since 1999 she is the director of Planum. The Journal of Urbanism online(www.planum.net), which she devised and published with a grant by the European Community (Ten Telecom, DG XIII).
She is author of 4 books, and editor of 7 ones. She is author of more than 30 essays published in books and journals, in Italy and abroad. She is now Deputy Mayor for Environment and Urban Planning - Municipality of Bologna.
